How Journaling Changed My Life
I never set out to become a songwriter or start a brand. I simply picked up a journal because I needed somewhere to put the pain after losing my brother, Lee. The pages became a safe place to pour out my grief, my questions, my memories, and my hopes. Day by day, writing helped me understand that healing doesn’t happen all at once—it happens one honest moment at a time.
As I continued to write, something unexpected happened. My journal entries began to turn into song lyrics. My sorrow slowly transformed into purpose, and my pain became a story I could share to encourage others. Journaling taught me that even in life’s darkest seasons, there is still room for hope, growth, and new beginnings. It gave me the courage to keep moving forward instead of staying trapped in my grief.
That journey eventually led me to create TRULY MAGNETIC. Inspired by my brother’s life, his love for sports, his compassion for others, and the way his spirit and his smile were TRULY MAGNETIC, I wanted to build something that would continue the legacy he lived every day. What started as words on a page became songs. Those songs became a mission. That mission became TRULY MAGNETIC—a reminder that our greatest struggles can become our greatest purpose, and that even after loss, we can choose to inspire, encourage, and lift others up.
Today, I still journal. It reminds me where I started, how far I’ve come, and why I continue this journey. Sometimes the smallest step—putting pen to paper—can change the course of your life. For me, it did.
