Why I Started Writing Songs

I never imagined that one of the hardest seasons of my life would lead me to discover my purpose. After my brother, Lee, passed away, I began journaling as a way to process my grief. What started as private thoughts written through tears gradually became song lyrics. Writing gave me a voice when I couldn’t find the words to speak, and each song became another step toward healing. It allowed me to honor Lee’s memory while transforming heartbreak into hope.

As I reflected on the kind of person Lee was, I realized his greatest gift wasn’t just his love for sports—it was the way he inspired and uplifted everyone around him. He believed in teamwork, perseverance, kindness, and helping people in need without expecting anything in return. His spirit and his smile were TRULY MAGNETIC. They had a way of making people feel welcomed, encouraged, and stronger simply by being around him.

That realization inspired me to create TRULY MAGNETIC—a brand built on the same values that defined his life. More than athletic apparel, TRULY MAGNETIC is a movement that encourages people to live with purpose, lead with compassion, and inspire others through their actions. What began as a journal became songs, and those songs became the foundation of a mission to carry my brother’s legacy forward. My hope is that every shirt, every song, and every act of giving back reminds someone that even through life’s greatest pain, purpose can be found—and that one person’s spirit can continue to inspire the world long after they’re gone.
